Across all Ages
Poetry by Joseph J. Biernacki

I write about life’s contrasting hues as I see and feel them – never obscuring reality, even when using metaphor or when giving agency to objects without voice. Between the passage of the years, I came to love the lyric sound of words. Early on, I wrote some poems and set them out for someone dear but never more, for fear. Then in a turn, I said one day, To students that I taught: “I’m always free Just access me But not at 3:00 am I’ll be chasing zebras then” They laughed and understood, my playful sense of dream. I realized, there might be more, much, much more in me. I might write some rhyme or rhythmic verse that resonates. Trained early as an engineer I studied natures laws I taught the same to seeking youth And wrote for like of mind. Now I spend my days weaving words at length, I test, I seek, experiment, With meter, rhyme and imagery, Yet less deterministically. I hope that in my verse you find a resonance that’s true – something that for you, will reach “Across all Ages.” (February 2026)
